Telling Tales - Confident Communication.
The first of these new monthly open workshops is in February in East Sussex and in March in Surrey. The workshops approach communication and public speaking from the perspective of the audience: how they make meaning of what they see, hear and feel. How do you connect with one or two people in a meeting or 200 people at a conference? How do you feel, how would you like to feel and for the really terrified there's a face the fear session: where does it come from and how can you overcome it. The open workshops grew out of interactive workshops with business networking groups and small business owners and training workshops with non native speaking management interns. The emphasis is on exploration and collaboration, similar to the way we work in rehearsal. We're avoiding training rooms and conference facilities and going to places where the atmosphere is relaxed, the surroundings different and stimulating and the food good. Flyers will be hot of the press by the end of the week.
Beware of the Blog!
It's been threatened, avoided, drafted, put on the back burner, re-written, discussed, but 2010 is the year of the blog for Dramatic Results. To complement case studies found on the website, the blog will focus on various aspects of what we are do, how we do it and why. The blog kicks off with Emotional Intelligence from Forum Theatre.
What's Occurring?
We're going back to school for the first time in ages this spring when we work with Brilliant Futures, Social Enterprise again. Their exciting new project promotes emotional and physical health in school, engaging young people in a three week Feel Good Challenge.
Creative Consultation and Conferences
Writing on Walls continues to be a successful and engaging method of collecting and collating thoughts and feelings particularly from hard to reach groups and about sensitive and difficult issues. This is a technique we continue to use with some of our Forum Theatre projects to allow participants to have an overview of the work at the end of the session.
In addition to our bespoke theatre work for conferences we now have a package available based on Writing on Walls which allows delegates to record thoughts, feelings, impressions and evaluation immediately and in a way that invites further comment or dialogue. The pack includes an easily transportable wall, all materials necessary, an introduction for inclusion in conference pack and facilitation during the conference or event.
To ensure that all this valuable information doesn't disappear without a trace there are two optional extras! 1. To make a creative DVD of the content to allow it to be shared, and /or 2. to create an art installation incorporating the feedback and evaluation for display.
