Assertiveness Training

We've attached an outline of our new 'off the peg' Assertiveness Workshop, created in response to popular demand. The workshop had its first outing at Lloyd's Registry in June with a group of insurance professionals. They were all new to the techniques of forum theatre, weren't quite sure what to expect and all rated the workshop 'very good or excellent'.

'The best thing was the style and level of involvement. The creative way in which the scenes were played made it easy to identify each situation and got you involved immediately. The scenes were extremely effective. Much better than notes or DVDs, they make a lasting impression. It was also good fun!'

Developments in Social Marketing and Health Promotion

It was good to complete another project with West Kent Primary Care Trust, this time to launch their new Health Network. This was a tailor made forum theatre programme focussing the Priorities and Dilemmas facing the trust. The participants were health professionals, key stakeholders, clinicians and members of the general public. They all engaged enthusiastically with the scenes and found some interesting and unexpected solutions which they were able to explore, test and share during the workshop.

We continue our involvement in healthy communities as we prepare some forum theatre for the World Social Marketing Conference, where one of the key issues improving health. We're also in the early stages of discussing the potential of forum theatre to open up the issue of childhood obesity, particularly with hard to reach groups. This is a challenge facing many health promotion experts who are looking for ways to gain insight into the behaviour and attitude of target groups and to develop and deliver successful interventions across the community.

Language and Presentation

In July we again created a drama course for Russian students and teachers in partnership with UK2Learn. The focus of our input is on active English, language in action. The students as always demonstrated their language skills, grasp of English culture, confidence and ability to contribute to a team and communicate with an audience in their impressive end of course performance.

Presentation skills continue to be part of our repertoire, with clients creating compelling and engaging business presentations, delivered with confidence, and don't let's forget all the fathers of the bride!!!

We are continuing to work with Social Marketing specialists, Brilliant Futures during the Autumn, contributing specialist input to their training programme.
